In June 2002, Upper Canada Malt significantly expanded its presence in the Canadian grocery products marketplace with the addition of the Richdale Sugar brand. The brand is differentiated from its competitors by our industry leading customer service, product freshness and innovative packaging.
 
In 1997, Richdale Sugar first introduced Canadian consumer sugar buyers to the gabled carton. The attractiveness of our gabled carton format has helped Richdale Sugar become recognized as the brand of choice for consumer packaged sugar in the grocery sections of Canada’s largest mass merchandisers.
 
Mass merchandisers immediately realize the benefits and viability of the gabled carton. Especially important is the fact that this innovative packaging product features exceptionally low shrinkage and great shelve visibility. In addition, it virtually eliminates the mess on retail shelves, aisles, and in stockrooms traditionally associated with bagged sugar.
 
Continued growth of the Richdale Sugar brand in the gabled carton format at competitive retail pricing clearly indicates that consumers are willing to purchase a leading “staple” product in unconventional packaging. While more manufacturers are simply packaging consumer goods in traditional forms, Richdale Sugar has utilized a unique package that attracts the consumer’s eye, and they recognize the benefits.
